15 Nov 1661, a woman carves into a tree. It's probably the artist Gesina Ter Borch herself who scratches her motto "Virtue Makes Beauty" into the bark, with a reference to her sweetheart, Henrik Jordis.
She's left her gloves, fan & shawl nearby.
