@BronzeAgeBabies I am so much in the "Superman needs Red Trunks" camp. Here you can see how similar he is to C.M., like the two are just palette swaps (they could be brothers here) although C.M has the better cape (and a sash! and Hercules Gauntlets!)

Both girls are shown as devils in the Pals 'n' Gals issue, from way back in 1959 (artists ?)
@bufocalvin I'm keeping your question about "Holy Insert" in mind for Silver Age Batman. I think the working theory that it was an invention of the TV show holds up. There might have been instances prior to it, but in general, it was the age of Great Scott, etc.
