@cinematiccomics I agree with that. There is a lot of his work I've not seen, but I find his art always pulls at me. I'm just glued to this anthology comic's cover, with those two red eyes on our Traveler.

Where did the trope of the drunk in top hat and tails originate?

Its this Marvelman who is rebooted by Alan Moore as Miracleman (probably because he couldn't legally use Marvelman) to tell his story.

Oddly enough, Marvel Comics bought the rights to those stories too.
