@Tapastry_TCC I've been researching Japanese folklore to connect with my heritage, and yokai were so deeply fascinating I had to write about them. Folk Remedy is set in the Taisho era because it was a time where Japan was beginning to reclaim the stories they almost lost to Westernisation.
One of my favourite things about making scrolling comics is getting to be really dramatic with the full vertical scroll. It’s really interesting the different ways you can use it.
Compared to print comics it can be similar in pacing and effect to a double page spread.
Hi #VisibleWomen, I'm Jem! I'm mixed Japanese-NZ and I make comics that explore heritage, place, and connection.

And a throwback, because I can. #meetthewebcomic
I have a website, and on that website I have some comics. And some of those comics are about my relationship with my mixed Japanese heritage.
