I didn't love it, frankly, but I liked it quite a lot and was struck by how much it reminded me of Charles Burns' "Last Look", which I really DO love. I am going to go out on a limb here and guess Charles Burns has seen "Eraserhead".

Everyone is clearly more interested to hear about Winger, but here's a cartoon data point on aluminum trees. From "Jugend", December 1927, the caption says something like 'Good God, grandma, you aren't going to spritz pine on the X-mas tree, that's old-fashioned romance.'

The Charlie Brown Christmas special is often credited with killing the aluminum tree market. (Not clear how much truth there is to it. Maybe it was overdetermined.)
