sharing a hack for a simple depth of field effect since I like how this panel turned out
1. original panel
2. duplicate the layer on top and gaussian blur it
3. reduce the opacity of the blurred top layer
4. use big soft eraser to erase the subjects of focus on the blurred layer

with color. adding particles = an easy way to make things look magical
