You cant build a noir project without a strong sense of lighting. We had the help of the amazing @anandaaran giving us a hand. We needed the lighting to not just set the mood for each scene, but also to guide the audience towards the important moments of each scene.

Because most of the narrative sections are narrated and the characters done speak, we wanted to make sure that we added as much visual storytelling as possible in the design of the locations. From props to posters, all expand the personalities of the characters that live in them.

All the characters had to be redesigned from their original design back in the short film we made. The story demanded more nuanced designs that could perform a bigger range of emotions while being easily readable from a distance.

Really early on I made these pieces as a way to figure out the tone of the story and trying to synthesize the "noir" aesthetic in this more cartoony art style. They were fundamental in getting everyone in the same page.

First, the art department! We were a small rat pack team of three. @juanchocapiic took care of the overall art direction while Fanny Hagdahl Sörebo (fanandrasombrero on ig) did an amazing job as production designer. I took care of characters and setting up the overall look.

@shoomlah She has this series of Japanese prints that just blow me away.
