It's not just the creatures I've painted for MetaZoo! Here's my illustration for the Ice Storm spell card!
Anther local-type cryptid that I got to illustrate for MetaZoo! The river dino is a sweet (but bitey) prehistoric holdover who can be found scampering through the canyons and washes of the Southwest!
A MetaZoo cryptid with a voracious appetite! Like some more familiar members of the weasel family, the Snow Wasset's fur changes color with the seasons, but UNLIKE weasels, it also sheds its legs in the fall to let it slither through heavy winter snow drifts in search of prey!
Happy International Cat Day! Here's my beloved hometown cryptid, the Cactus Cat, who staggers through the desert, ripping open cactuses with its claws to drink their delicious fermented juice! As a proud Tucsonan, I of course insisted on illustrating this creature for MetaZoo!
The Wapaloosie is a cryptid from the Pacific Northwest which spends all its life in trees. Gloves made from its leather will jump right off the hands of lumberjacks in order to continue scampering up to the highest branches! This is another particular MetaZoo favorite.
Another MetaZoo creature! The Tripodero has telescoping legs which allow it to raise and lower its height at will...a very handy feature that helps make this cryptid an expert marksman! This is one of my favorites that I've done.
Another MetaZoo illustration! The Gee-Gee Bird is a cryptid that is rarely seen, but whose call can be heard echoing across the snowy reaches of the far north: "Gee-gee-gee-gee-GEEZ, IT'S COLD!!"
In celebration of MetaZoo's arrival to stores, let's take a look through the cards I've illustrated for the game! I'll share a different one each day!
The first card I illustrated is the classic western cryptid, the Hoop Snake! I designed it to look like a whitewall tire!
Hooray, hooray! The day has finally arrived! MetaZoo: Cryptid Nation releases in retail stores today!
This is a brand new collectible card game all about cryptids and folklore! I've been involved as the artist of several of its cards, and now YOU can buy them in stores!!
