Commission! I was asked to paint a watercolor of Jack Medusa, private eye protagonist of a relatively obscure little fantasy-noir comic called "Urban Myths".

Been playing The Dark Crystal: Tactics, and there’s a level where you’re up against the General...and also some hollerbats, who are labeled “General’s pet”, and I am absolutely DELIGHTED by the implications of those two little words!

Obviously, I've been spending a lot of time lately obsessively drawing the villains from the Dark Crystal...so maybe I should try my hand at drawing some of its many wonderful hero characters as well?
Here's some first lil’ studies of the primary Gelfling heroes.

Issue 4: black v-neck shirt, red flannel button-down shirt, blue denim jeans, amber rings, the same wayfarer sunglasses from issue 1. Preliminary sketch has the same red canvas sneakers, but I think these green things on the bathroom floor are shoes, so.

Issue 3 front cover: some kind of leather jacket?
Issue 4 front cover: white t-shirt, blue denim button-down shirt, silver and amber rings, garnet bead bracelet.

Issue 3: exact same outfit, but with brown snakeskin cowboy boots because I forgot details of the outfit in between working on two pages. I guess he changed boots when he got to the airport. Likewise, necklace and watch disappear. Aviator sunglasses make a brief appearance.

Issue 2: that same dinosaur ringer shirt, sienna brown flared corduroy jeans, pointy black boots. Arm is in a sling, but that's not really a fashion statement.

One of my favorite parts of drawing comics is designing characters' costumes. So here's a totally self-indulgent thread of the Makeshift Man's different outfits in my stories.
