Japanese actor Takashi Shimura (Mar. 12, 1905-Feb. 11-1982) pictured with Akira Kurosawa & Toshiro Mifune on sets incl. SEVEN SAMURAI (1954) and SCANDAL (1950). Shimura was called "いぶし銀 (ibushi-gin)," [literally: oxidized silver] meaning, "master."
