One of my favorite things about an S. Hee illustration is looking to see what the little black cat is up to. Hanging with the laundry in this one!
This is by English illustrator and art teacher Edith Holder. She became famous following publication of her Nature Notes for 1906, after her death. Better known as the book The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady in 1977, which was an enormous publishing success.
