i think older cartoons did a better job of representation. newer stuff is just too clean, too perfect looking. i remember watching proud family as a kid and being like “yea i totally have kids that look like that in my class” i can’t say the same for those newer character designs
this hardly even looks like it’s from the same game series. these new protagonists look so overly designed and boring. oh well i guess. anime trends etc etc

i don’t like art advice like this. what if you’re doing a sad moody composition? a saturated looking character would just not work, they’d look completely out of place
watched under the red hood recently which is a pretty old dc animated film but i really love like the bounciness of the character acting in this. u really dont see that kind of animation direction anymore and i kinda miss it. its very western style animation
