Birdy. Matsubara says they felt incredibly guilty that they got the color design wrong (different from the anime). Even looking back at this drawing causes them a cold sweat.

Matsubara didn't know much about Max and Mighty, (sounds like the anime staff didn't tell them much.) and upon seeing them secretly hoped that the BMJ manga would be cancelled and given to someone more capable. (Yikes.)

The comment is a bit long but basically Matsubara just wasn't sure how to make his character work, and basically gave up before it started because they didn't have a very good schedule or time to come up with ideas.

"When I found out she didn't have a mom, I wanted to draw a chapter about that, and even said I would during meetings but it ended up not happening in the end." (Matsubara's comment.)
