i'm drawing scruff travis and the moment i turn off the scruff layer i get scared like who is this man

i keep looking at these beta travises and from what i can tell before hitting his final version is that he originally had eyes?? the models don't have facial textures but there's definitely mesh set up where the final version doesn't have it.
