I was given a few to choose from in the concept art, and first selected one with wings, but since it's not a flying creature it was back to the drawing board. (Also there was some miscommunication and it got all the way to final at this aspect ratio and had to be fixed, haha)

Some more 2001ish vs last few yearsish comparisons I like; there are a lot of artists out there who got very good very quickly and I am not one of them! But if you just keep stubbornly plugging away over 20 years, well, who knows. =)
