I love this callback to KH2, you can say whatever you want about KH3 but the deaths of certain characters were on point and Xemnas is one of them.

The opening of KH2 is perfect, it summarizes in a wonderful way the events of KH1 and Com, they couldn't have done it better.

There are similarities between Darklings and Anti-Aqua, both have red hands, they are overcomed by darkness, in the case of Aqua is caused by sadness, they are able to speak about their negative emotions etc. Maybe that explain why in the box art of KH3 there is a Darkling.
