the 2nd place winner of the NTIRE2020's 16x challenge, ciplab, used a method called "run ESRGAN twice"
the yukon trail is a game about how people were pushed to desperation by the vice grip of gilded age capitalism and the many ways that desperation was taken advantage of
the results actually look plausible as *a* comic, just not CAD. i guess i was hoping for Ethan's head frankenstein'd onto Garfield or something
i ran 3,000 panels each of CAD and Garfield through ganilla's cyclegan implementation, hoping to transfer each comic's style to the other
disappointingly, the results for cad2garfield were: desaturated colors, an attempt at shading, and gibberish WORDSWORDSWORDSWORDS
It did eventually learn to give Odie his normal colors, but any rare or one shot characters still get the Arbuckle treatment.
Even when Jon himself is in a different outfit (or no outfit at all), the model still tries to force his iconic baby blue shirt onto him.
Training what is turning out to be a Garfield colorization model w. pix2pix.
At this point it's colorizing every single non-Garfield character like Jon Arbuckle.
The Yukon Trail is a bit more sobering than its Oregon counterpart
training a 'sequel' to manga109attempt for ESRGAN.
JPG/dither friendly, trained on photos and traditional/digital art, 2x upscale (only nn/bicubic filtering should go beyond 2x imo), looks a bit soft but 'safe', doesn't radically alter the image

WIP results of an art nouveau ganilla model, trained on works by (or inspired by) Alphonse Mucha
Honestly I don't know why furries pay people to draw their fursonas.
