Black Rose:
The opening description sets both a time period and describes a beach. The beach is very important as the story constantly returns to this specific place throughout the series.

@tori_goggin Black Rose Guard - Mara’s does a bit. She’s 1,200 years old though, so basic changes in fashion require it over the centuries.
She’s also a princess turned knight, so what role she plays helps alter her wardrobe as well.

@MBlackrane Black Rose - Mara:
Mara’s are her eyes. They are violet with silver centres. Only members of the Lorcan rose heir royal bloodline have eyes this colour.
Enchanted roses also turn red when Mara is near. They turn different colours for other royals.

Black Rose:
Multiple characters are ‘rose heirs.’ Members of the Fae royal bloodline, roses drink their blood in exchange for granting the courts & heirs magic, but it’s a wild magic & frequently comes at a cost.
