Mara means ‘bitter’ which matches her personality, and her role in the tale as a woman seeking vengeance, quite well.

Edward, Captain of the Royal Guard, means ‘protector’

Garreth means gentle & brave, which also matches his personality and role in the book

Also physical. Mara is Captain of the guard and a sword master, who engages in many battles.

@TATKulisch Flames of Kalleen - Main Character’s name is Amelia. She’s a dragon shifter princess struggling to save her kingdom from an ancient threat.

@shcleveland Black Rose - Mara can easily lose herself while sparring. The clang of swords, and rhythm of the swift motions form an almost music for her.

She also could never spend enough time with Edward, her forbidden and only love of 1,200 years.

@asrs_williams Black Rose - Clarissa is the MC’s wicked aunt, an immortal Fae Queen. She is determined to harden her niece’s heart, to turn Mara into a fit heir for her throne.

Clarissa views love & mercy as weaknesses, and represents what Mara might become, if she chooses a darker path.

@AshlyRice9 Flames of Kalleen - The fantasy kingdom is ruled by dragon shifters. They are led by the royal dragon bloodline, and the high priestess of Kamar, the goddess of flame.

One of my favourites is Mara. Born a Fae Princess, she surrendered her royal title to become a knight, and rises through the ranks become Captain of the Black Rose Guard. She’s brave, a sword master, and has only loved one man in 1,200 years.

@kfoxx_writes Black Rose Guard - Captain Mara is a master with the sword ⚔️ She’s trained other knights for 1,000 years, and is considered (by most) to be the best blade in any court.
