I started drawing fanart of them, and began watching AEW pretty much just for them.

Lucha Underground had a huge influence on RUBBER MATCH, from inspiring the camera angles that made it into my panels, and, of course, to the creation of the version of El Coloso that made it to print.

When RUBBER MATCH was still in its infancy, I was struggling with the direction to take Blue Devil's tag team partner in. I wanted him to be a luchador too, and when I mentioned this to Elizabeth, she was immediately on board and said, "Like Mil Muertes from Lucha Underground!"

Also it was an EXTRA SPECIAL treat to get to see @mikejbecker draw some of the dudes I designed for dEMOn BOY!!
