the solution was blender specific, and it involved simply setting the normals per face.. until now, the model had really bad shading issues because of this (in addition to the texture mapping being really bad because i barely knew how to texture)

@throwaw31702056 Not exactly sure what I'm doing aside from just poking around, but I did manage to get RockWorld to boot once by freezing 0x8560 in bizhawk, though it still crashes after the title screen

sonic spinball's graphics always bugged me because they're super inconsistent.. in the same game, we clearly see depictions of sonic with and without mohawk-style quills and eggman's appearance is kind of a weird in-between
