Shiro is based on Tomoe Gozen, a 12th century samurai woman. This print is by Shitomi Kangetsu (1747-1797).

Keith is loosely based on Queen Himiko, a legendary shamanistic queen of the Yayoi people who lived ~170-248 CE. This is a statue of her by Kanzaki Station.
