Enjoying digging up childhood memories of music , messy hair and snazzy cardigans for @thegoodshipillo ‘s picture book course this week.

ps. This led to putting some orchestra music on and the kiddos were instantly pulled out @mrjamesmayhew ‘s books. 🎶

Also, I love that I saw this fellow several months after drawing this. But honestly, there have probably been lots of cloud whales and creatures I’ve missed and the difference is that today, I went outside, looked up and had eyes to see it. That’s my new year mood right there.

I’m a bit enamoured with the boundary-breaking picture book which depicts a little girl processing some unbridled rage, with no attempt to soften or make the anger ‘cute‘. Powerful and beautiful , bravo Britta Teckentrup.
