Fawn in the Night Garden. Been playing around w/ several layers of watercolor & gouache to get more opacity, as well as experimenting w/ markmaking. I ❤ this color combo! I used D. Smith watercolors: indigo, rare green earth, perylene red, & raw umber.
Willow was named for the bark that dyes threads a peachy brown. She has three sisters, Madder, Woad, and Yarrow, all of whom I will be creating an illustration for.
I'll stop here. This piece was really more for practice and to maybe add something different to my portfolio. It was also all improv, which is very exciting. It wasn't until I started taking classes by Marco Bucci that I learned digital illustrations could totally be improvised!
A little sketch before bed. Will work on her some more tomorrow :) Night all!
It's a bit more defined now...but starting to feel a perfectionist mentality coming on. May do the rest of this one with a palette knife just to combat that 🤔
