I almost had a heart attack because: I opened the garage door and a black cat streaked out if it, went halfway down the driveway, looked back at me and WINKED SAUCILY as if to say, "are you going to catch me?" 😼

It should go without saying (but it doesn’t) — any so-called “publisher” asking YOU to pay THEM is either vanity publishing, or grandiose self-publishing, or a straight-up scam. A traditional publisher pays YOU, never the other way around. Never. NEVER PAY A PUBLISHER A DIME. 💸

Wondering if a very small press is legit? Some things to watch out for: 1) Do the proprietors have extensive experience in book publishing? "Loves to read!" is not the same as "knows how to publish." 2) Have they... published any books? Can you find them for sale? In bookstores?
