The Irish were dehumanized for centuries by the British and eventually by Americans. Even up to the 50s and 60s people were skeptical of them because they were Catholics. Same with Italians. Polish people were called dumb for years b/c they had difficulty with English.

Irish people aren’t dehumanized anymore in America or the UK, but there’s a rich history of it. Normalizing this kind of dehumanization is what led to it. Same with Italians and the Polish. They had it rough for a while after emigrating here.
