I've just finished reworking this #digitalart, called "Learning to Dance".
And I love how the richness of the background comes out now, kind of park-like...it's actually crushed leaves, glued onto paper before scanning.
Several years ago I was approached by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet to donate the original of this, called "Learning to Dance". That was for their 75th Anniversary Gala Fundraiser.
It was quite a surprise, and an honor to be considered for it.
It is called "Learning to Dance".
My current work in progress...ready to take it into some dark space, other than the case of my laptop. haha
Almost finished with the details, and probably playing with it and color at the time, in the evening.
After spending the day combining two sketches from last year, I see a lot potential in where this work in progress is about to take me. Perhaps to someone else's stories? Who's to say? 🙂🙏
As much as I love the rich depth of this original, for a long time now I've wanted to play with a lighter, more colorful version...and so it begins...again?
By the way, the name of the original #digitalart is "Taking Chances".
This is what I refer to as a makeover...taking an older, finished piece and turning it into something very different, and yet somehow the same.
It's also very early in that process.

By some quirky twist, I'm reminiscing about a charming part of my days at Reader's Digest in Montreal.
Every month the back cover was reserved for a painting done by a local artist...and the art was bought, not commissioned...very classy, all in all.
