@minichibisart right, this one makes use of some darker palettes which downshift everything and double up the black slot (third from left and the two to the right of that)

i think i'm done with this for the time being. (i reworked some details like the lighting in the trees, the tree bark, and the background ramparts.)
@1bardesign @ireneista thank you- yes, the masonry is this these tiles (tiles are 16 x 16). the editor uses 4 color palettes, and this has several which nudge everything down a notch in brightness and have extra black slots.

@DonutSkeleton one thing i'm playing with right now is having a few different palettes for levels of brightness. these are hand-applied but you could absolutely do this dynamically.
i just spent way too long drawing a fallen brick and the hole where it used to be.
