what I love most w/ ghibli animation are the flourishes they add to small gestures; like when seita had to shake off the sakuma drops off the cloth, sophie brushing off crumbs on the table, chihiro's hair tying scene, or anna losing her balance on the boat after removing the rope

-after bonding a bit with silver, he stops wearing the black coat; starts to open up & look past his issues
-that is until the "misstep" with mr. arrow, he dons the black coat- his belief in himself wavering once again- and silver comforts him (heartwarming speech 😭)

anyway can we talk about jim's garb & how it changes throughout the movie
-so we start off with him being all emo in black
-he gets on the ship sporting a new shirt (for new beginnings) but keeps his black coat on since he's still closed off, this is important to note

-i live for treasure planet's unhospitable, dilapidated look with all the overgrown flora just. thriving. 10/10 earth should be more like that
-BEN is so unnecessary but hes there for plot device i guess 🤷 he is the olaf of this movie. take him out
