and while things seem dire as they fall off the collapsing facility and toward the planet below, they're not falling into darkness, they're falling into LIGHT
and keith is marked for his love and succeeds in summoning the black bayard (shiro's legacy, the weapon shiro died holding) to free shiro of this control and corruption
and what does keith say to this "broken and reformed" shiro whose galra arm is his "strongest part" that he should "embrace"? this shiro actively trying to kill him? i'm not leaving you. i won't give up on you. i love you.
there is just smth so special abt the visuals in this episode - keith hurtling himself into the unknown after shiro, descending into a literal underworld to go and save him - the b&w moon, the greenish light & black water, it's all so deathly and eerily beautiful
as two of the more “serious” characters, keith and shiro didn’t always get their chance on the humorous side of things - but when that side of them did shine, it was always endearing to see ☺️
