The last thing owl does is make him have soft expressions, crying and mourning. He looks so fucking sad I just wanna comfort him I ehiehsjsbfjrjeiwbejrbfjrkehsvsjsbs

Another thing they do is on Raphs sharper edges they round them out and make them softer. Not losing the shape but making him subtly look less sharp. So despite the fact Raph is covered in spikes, the viewer finds themselves not caring.

This gives Raph the feeling of having soft dependable arms, while his shell is spiked he has no control over that, his true nature is softer and kinder. Owl also draws him with an open face, showing his true emotions. Leading the viewer into comfort him.

Now let’s get to the fun stuff, how Owl makes Raph look huggable as hell. The first thing I noticed was how often they used circles when drawing Raph. Of course they don’t make him round to unrecognizably amount, in fact they only use circles on his main body.

Raphs design in the show features many sharp angles and points, showing how dangerous he can be. With points on his arms, shell, teeth, ect. This is all making use of Triangle shape language. And triangles in designs make the viewer wary and worried, they portray danger.

Raph is a tall, intimidating, spiked, monster of a turtle. And in the show his design is putting that on display. Me and @/SkyAzureEclipse both agree that the way Owl draws Raph is HUGGLY AND SNUGGLY. Now, how do they achieve that affect? Let me explain
