@musterings1 It is SO HARD to not sound (unintentionally) patronizing when they ask about these (to my mind) self-evident terms. The student asked if it meant that "they were giving more jobs to some people." I eventually went with "it means some people are paid more, and some less."

Anyway, so Bella’s period never being mentioned in any capacity is an omission that stood out to me immediately because of how huge an impact it would have on the characters. My coworker —who’d read all the books— said that it was never addressed even in later books, so...yeah.
