I feel like there’s often a “look” we ascribe to priests/clerics from years of them all looking similar. This goes against that grain, which I dig.

+1 to your damage is statistically just about the same as going up a dice size (arguably better since it has less variance). It gets more complex if you get into the nitty-gritty, considering hit % over multiple attacks vs a d12 weapon, but my advice is to just roll high.
