Luffy's arsenal can become infinitely more chaotic, which works for both the fruit and its free-spirited user.

Now Luffy is more malleable and flexible, whether its his own doing or even the work of enemy attacks. His body can seemingly take on any shape imaginable. Fitting for someone who's so creative where even his moves are named after weapons. So what could this mean?

What's especially interesting is that this specific devil fruit user can fight in "whatever way they fancy" when awakening. So for Luffy, he's no longer bound to biting his arm or thumb to transform as he can do it willingly in Gear 5.
