Back to the Dragons! This tribe of monsters lives halfway up Mt. Leviathan. Purely for the look of these pages I wanted to have the colors a bit out of the realm of reality by making the sky yellow and pushing the surrounding rocks more towards orange.

And of course the Dragon Tribe! Every good fantasy book needs dragons after all :) Prunella meets these brash and very competitive creatures halfway up Mount Leviathan. Will the help her on her journey, or challenge her to something dangerous?

Probably the coziest page in the entire book. I knew this would be important to get right so I did a pretty detailed study first. The final page turned out great because of it! 🎨🖌

Speaking of Ghibli, I had to do a gorgeous food spread at some point in my story and this Japanese izakaya inspired monster pub was the perfect place. Cozy fantasy pubs with food, what could be better!

Here is an early design of my main character Prunella transforming into a Skeleton Monster. The full page reveal was a lot of fun to do and one of the better painted pages in the book I think :)

First week as an assistant teacher for spring break art camp. This is based on one of the students but really could describe most of them 😅 everyone just goes for it and it’s amazing.
