We know that The Nightmare by Henry Fuseli (1781) is a powerful painting because it continues to inspire inventive boudoir slang https://t.co/ZNLuSJrLXz
Is there any writer, artist, or musician (etc) whose name tricks you into thinking they’re from some distant time period? For me it’s Adorno (sounds like the name of a guy who died centuries ago) and Neo Rauch (sounds like a guy who won’t be born for another 150 or so years)
@marybanas @bshaykin @domesticetch @Lett_Arc (last tweet I promise) Always loved this teaser-poster series for the 1990 Dick Tracy movie. The Madonna poster was supposedly recalled before the movie was released & gets listed at high prices on eBay
The Gottfried Helnwein self-portrait on the cover of Scorpions' 1982 album BLACKOUT looks like 1993 David Foster Wallace got stuck in a Brundlefly teleporter with a 1997 paperback of INFINITE JEST
In praise of the official optional cleavage-covering sticker Bally/Midway provided to buyers of SCARED STIFF (1996), the best Elvira pinball machine imo 🕷
Two 👌 moments in the Porkins & Biggs story @citycyclops wrote & drew in the new Star Wars: Age of Rebellion comic book
1) The line “I know a lot of fun ways to avoid thinking, but a vacation is the best one”
2) There is now an official Star Wars character named L’ry Ap’lton 😂
“The aftermath,” 1991
Of the four drawings I shared with Mr. Hawkins in preparation for the interview, this was his favorite.
