Dublin has lots of Connemara marble. This beauty shows refolding of a tectonic layering, with an axial planar fabric starting to form (dark vertical lines).
The whole area is a classic of multi-stage folding - see diagram showing similar mapped folds (x10,000 bigger).
Sometimes the ground can flow.
This is Mam Tor - the "shivering mountain" between Manchester and Sheffield.
Its been moving for thousands of years.
