@kafisart Hi Kasia!
Im Michael, email is michaelkatchan@gmail.com and my portfolio is https://t.co/RWEpgpbo8f
hey #PortfolioDay
I'm Michael, a freelance illustrator living in Denmark. I'm focused primarily on work within the TCG / TTRPG spaces, and hold a special love for all things horror / heavy metal / spikey.
The final detail crops - i love the evincar mask so much, and relate it much more to phyrexia than the phi symbol. the medical material skirt was another attempt at bringing some of that medical imagery in to this
the marble sacrifical altar in the background was a big level up moment for me. I need to return to more backgrounds like it - it was immensely pleasurable to paint. I can't remember what i'd intended those phyrexian markings to say. I think its direct quotes from the altar cards
We ended up pushing the design a lot harder after a lot of critiques and suggestions - working a lot of story elements in to the character as we went. I loved the idea that as the creature killed, it took limbs from its victims and would incorporate them into its own body
starting off the new year with a look back at the piece that really pushed me forward a few years ago.
Really excited to see what this year brings, both for myself and all the wonderful artists I'm lucky enough to know on here.
Stay strong everyone <3
@castlehavven Really proud of these lava guys and keen to do more next year :)
