I use different colors from the base colors to bring out the hair and then add the darker color of the base.
Then on a different layer I use a yellow color and bring down the opacity.
I don't know if I explained it well.

Part two: shading
I clip layers so it's easier for me
I use airbrush to do shading and lighting
I put a peachy color down first and then later use darker colors
