Wait... It's #portfolioday already?!
I'm Carly, an illustrator specializing in imaginative realism and figurative painting. I'm sucker for glowing light and working on books.
Day 3: latest WIP
So close, and yet so far. Still a lot to do with this girl before I'm willing to call her done.

Day 1: A favorite painting.
This is one I will probably never part with. It's just a little alla prima study for a much larger painting that was commissioned by a friend. I'm glad to have a tiny version for myself.

Thanks for taking a look at everybody's work! I love YA fantasy and sci-fi.
@kieranyanner Who wouldn't love to work on MTG :) https://t.co/OsfagTjddz
Tentacles! I had so much fun painting those suckers. Definitely see more paintings of cephalopods in my future. 6"x6" oil on mdf board. I think total paint time was around 2 hours on this study.
Throw back to 2017, Nebulous Oracle oil on illustration board. One of the very first oil paintings I ever did.
The armorer was one of my favorite characters. This was a super fun 6x6 study that I spent about 2 hours on. I'll be posting a time lapse video of this one soon!
One of my greatest pleasures is meeting or finding an artist, thinking “Hey, they’re pretty good!”, and then a few years down the road they get even better and blow me away. @hilaryclarcq is one of those artists. Every new painting she posts I’m more in love with than the last.
Different stages of the process for the Griffin.
Heard back from the client that the person this was given to teared up over it. The client’s reaction to the finished painting is usually my favorite part about private commissions.
