Even just having a name to my experience is a huge relief. It definitely makes it easier to know what’s up before trying to understand it.

Their questionnaire didn’t help at all lol
I am super thankful that the psychiatrist was able to figure out that their answers were completely different to what I experienced as a kid. (13/14)
The psychiatrist asked if I could at least try and get one of my parents to fill out the questionnaire, so he could get a more accurate analysis. So I found a way to get them to fill it in without knowing I'm seeing a psychiatrist. (12/14)
Actually, one of those friends suspected I had autism, something I hadn't considered at the time. They sent me an 'Aspie-Quiz' and suggested sending the results to the psychiatrist too. (10/14)
I did try leaving it up to the GP's judgement (cos hey i'm no professional) but some are not particularly experienced in this field so it didn't go well. It's easier to just ask for one instead. (4/14)
- Book a convenient time. The psychiatrists my doctor referred to were booked up until 6+ months later. I had to call up several different places until I could find an earlier appointment, and that was only because I got lucky. (3/14)
