@pandamoniumb The shade and light color SEEMS to be pretty consistent for a lot of Pokemon though sometimes they adjust these colors if they aren't working well with the base color. It looks like a soft textured brush and usually a line of slightly lighter shadow in the shadow transition. 7/?

@pandamoniumb When you move onto color I've also found that on a lot of Pokemon there is a very subtle texture. On this example I increased the contrast so you could see it but they tend to be very subtle in the final versions. 5/?

@pandamoniumb Now when it comes to the rendering a great place to start is the line quality! A lot of Pokemon art has a bit of a scribbly line that has a sort of wobble. Its pretty subtle, but I really like the unsophisticated look to it. I made my own brush to help myself with this! 4/?
