@KnightLAT George Stoll is frankly the only toilet paper artist I'm interested in
L: Gustave Caillebotte, Traffic Island, Boulevard Haussmann, c. 1880; R: Milt Gross, panel from Count Screwloose of Tooloose, 1931 https://t.co/t1qjFOee5b
The setting, as the title indicates, is the enclosed garden behind the parsonage where Van Gogh's parents then resided. That same space appears in other pictures by Van Gogh from Nuenen, although more commonly in winter, as in these paintings from @hammer_museum & @NortonSimon
@profdanhicks Not an archaeologist, but an art historian, but let me tell you- everyone should visit Ek Balam in the Yucatan. And also I'd recommend Calakmul in Campeche while we're at it
@maseditor @whitneymuseum An equally interesting story is that of Patty Mucha, known in the 1960s as Pat Oldenburg, who sewed many of Claes Oldenburg's soft sculptures while the two of them were married
@KCLemay I've always been fascinated by those Homer watercolors of fish - something so curious & captivating about them
And we can also thank our very committed and accommodating speakers, including @edelstudio & @KfangKaren, and graduate students from @UDarthistory @samfox_MFA_IVC @HunterArtDept @UMDArtHistory, for agreeing to move their presentations online
Edvard Munch, Self-Portrait with the Spanish Flu, 1919 @nasjonalmuseet
There will be two graduate student panels - a morning session on 19th-century illustration with contributions from:
-Julia Hamer-Light @UDarthistory
-Rebecca Szantyr @BrownUniversity
-Marina Wells @BU_Tweets
