For a pony to become a cocoon, they would get wrapped up in their manes and tails, which would become fluffy. Then, their own fur would get fluffy to the point where the entire cocoon is filled up. Finally, their cutie marks will be engraved on the very center of the cocoon.

The inside of the Starlight Cocoon is completely filled up with heliotrope fur. It is the same color as Starlight's own fur, just like how the outside of the cocoon matches her mane.

Starlight was the first to experience the floofy cocoon transformation when it was brand new.

Once the layout of Sanctuary was finished, I became a part of the very part of the place that I had built by drinking a potion, causing me to transform into the very tree you see now. A tree whose leaves are made of my own fur that gets even fluffier during the colder seasons.

In fact, I was once a normal Earth pony who had a genetic mutation that caused me to become a floofy pony. My fur is known to the softest in Equestria. I've always had a fascination with Magic, particularly inanimate transformations. To me, it's a way of obtaining immortality.
