Terrific illustrations by American artist David Stone Martin (1913 - 92). I’m sure @mrjamesmayhew likes these too!
My new poem — A Fancy Pet — has just been uploaded on the old dirigible. @TheDirigible Thanks Jonathan! 😊
A little end-of-year nonsense to wish everyone a wonderful 2023.
Thank you for all your support. 😊
I recently had the honour of being illustrated by the great @chrisriddell50 Here are some of his masterful drawings, and by contrast, some by yours truly for the same poem.
When crossing any ocean,
Of this I’m soon aware —
Thanks to the endless motion —
A touch of mal-de-mer!
Now, Nikolai was naughty
As he swam about the sea,
And soon gained notoriety
By causing misery.
He upset many mermaids
As he sabotaged their songs,
And found his uncle’s trident
And he twisted all the prongs.
King Neptune had a nephew
By the name of Nikolai,
And he was three foot seven
And a quarter inches high.
It hardly was surprising
That he wasn’t very tall,
For Nikolai was six hears old,
Which isn’t old at all.
