I can totally see how FFVIII ended up so divisive coming straight off the heels of VII, but I'm really loving it so far. They're *very* different beasts, and that's not necessarily a bad thing!

Today I learned from @SenseiHanzo that Del's original Japanese name is Yamato, most likely a reference to the battleship Yamato (especially considering his coloration and... portholes). It's possible the English is also a similar reference to the Deleware-class of US battleships!

One more moment in defense of Tom Nook: he actually donates 90% of his earnings to an orphanage... but keeps it a secret because he "can see the value of having a boogeyman everyone can unite against". I love him 🥺
