#OnThisDay in 1973 the first Australopithecus afarensis fossils (AL 128 & AL 129; age 3.3 million-year-old) were found by Donald Johanson and his team in Hadar, Ethiopia. Its functional morphology was interpreted as evidence of adaptations to bipedalism.
