That's not to say that there's no value to grotesque dolls - I love grotesqueries of course - but I think a fundamental value of dolls is that they're not alive and so they're just about the SHAPE of humanity put together in weird ways, they don't have to fake being life
Something I particularly like about the Gimmick Puppets is that they appeal to this "disgusting through sheer detail" aspect - where something is so fiddly that it feels like teeming ants or smth and is hard to resolve into shape nicely.
Whereas Tabitha, who's sort of a generically engineered experiment weirdo rich girl who does what she wants n what she likes is playing soldiers and murdering, sucks ASS at command so her command zone range is literally 0 (just her unit she's in) but she gives it +50%/+50% LOL
Like, Paladin's Quest (Lennus in Jpn) is very garish and MS Painty, but I'm obsessed with it too. I love the blue "trees" and the weird buildings and etc and just how willing it is to be its own game
It has this really neat art style where it's like. Paladin's Quest is like, honestly ugly but in a pretty unique and interesting way? And instead of looking more normal Lennus II doubled down and kept the weirdness but added a unique shading style. It feels from a diff lineage
the survivors of the other mission quoted saying "we're interchangable background npcs anyway, we might as well die in a cool scene"
If you ask me, I think too many people get fucked up over this sort of revelation in stories. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a common human thing to dehumanize the enemy so you don't have to feel bad about it, but massacre is massacre, regardless of its shape, hmm?
yeah maybe libertus isn't cringe, idk... jill's response face is so funny
ange like "hmm... well everything fucking sucked and was terrible but on the other hand DAMN did i deserve it"
