oh my god mbt added the fucking dragon meme as an emoji im crying
there's less focus on trying to paint a scene and more on "a monster is a monster, it doesn't need to exist in a place" in early yugioh. mtg had this sometimes too but in general early mtg's style was washed out paintings with a background
honestly something i love about early yugioh is...
early mtg, right, has some """amateurish""" art - but it still all feels like traditional lineage art to me i guess. ive seen people make fun of stuff like this but i love it cuz its just like paintings by normal ppl to me
now if you were one of the native americans 11,000 years ago on the other hand...
these are all really stupid access choices.
except
the species that built them
looks like this
i love when you see a card and its like ah, you were designed specifically not to be summoned by giant rat huh
I think this is mostly an iconography thing - what makes the Ing most uniquely interesting and recognizable is the Warriors' strange five limbed hand or starfish like body - but I also like the idea that despite Hunters being their true elites Warriors are societally iconic
not even the dinosaur monster type is free from wife and twinkification...
