I really wish someone would write something on the portrayal of George IV's chubby mistresses in caricature BECAUSE these are THICK QUEENS
And this one by Isaac Cruickshank c. 1794, called 'The Difficult Kiss'.....I guess it's supposed to be mocking bc haha their fatness is making their kiss cumbersome BUT ACTUALLY, it's very cute
Okay, I'm obsessed with this Rowlandson caricature, because it feels like the lady's 'plumpness' is presented as saucy, rather than gross. Love that concept.
My favourite thing is to look up someone from the late Georgian/Regency era who lived a long life (and consequently lived into the Victorian era, and the age of photography) and compare a portrait of them when they were young vs a photograph of them later on in life
